Elevating work platforms audit report

Elevating work platforms (EWPs) are mobile items of plant designed to lift or lower people and equipment by a telescopic, hinged or articulated device, or combination of these, from a base support.

EWP’s are often used to manage the risk of working at heights but they can also introduce new risks.

PCBUs must provide workers with reasonable information, instruction, training and supervision to operate an EWP in all of the foreseeable work situations which may arise.

From 1 January 2019 to 30 June 2019 SafeWork SA undertook a compliance program focused on EWPs following a series of fatal and serious incidents involving EWPs between 2014 and 2018.
