Major events that SafeWork SA will be conducting compliance inspections at include Tour Down Under, Womadelaide, Adelaide Fringe Festival, Superloop 500 and further afield to the Port Lincoln Tunarama.

“Inspectors from SafeWork SA are commonly involved in community events to ensure event organisers, stall holders and ride owners keep their workers and the community’s health and safety top of mind”, said Mr Farrell.

“SafeWork SA works with event organisers and are involved at various stages from the set-up to the bump-out, to ensure compliance with the state’s work health and safety laws.”

As part of meeting compliance, stall holders, event organisers, ride owners and promoters need to ensure all facets of the event are safe, including the erection and maintenance of temporary structures, such as stages and marquees, fireworks displays, amusement rides and activities, appropriate storage of dangerous substances such as LPG and electrical devices are all tested and in good order.

“We regulate safety responsibilities and also inform businesses about work health and safety rights for workers, volunteers and patrons at public events,” said Mr Farrell.
